A Great Season to Wear a Wool Coat

‘Tis the season for woolenwear

Winter is upon us and the sheep are moving to their new farm this week.  The  blank, oval-shaped spaces in the snow are where they slept.  Be aware that they have access to a nice, warm shed with cozy straw and shelter from the wind.  They scorn this shed in favor of the rugged wilderness, clearly.
I am having a hard time discerning how to attribute the girls current size  – they are woolly, pregnant, fat, or most likely some combination of the three.  In the next day or so, I am going to capture the sheep in their pen using grain and give them each a thorough checkup.  I’ll assess their backfat, their wool length, trim hooves, check for parasites.  Should be quite the ruckus!
